Ford

The Ford Motor Company is proud to be associated with CEME. The establishment by Ford of the Global Diesel Engine Centre in Dagenham provided the catalyst for CEME. In addition, Thames Gateway London Partnership and GOL worked closely with Ford and central Government to develop the SRB 6 project, an extra 10 million pound investment in the area, and the instigation of a 10-point plan by Stephen Byers, the then Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, which was endorsed by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone .

The project has evolved into a unique collaboration of global companies, local SMEs, national and London government, national Higher Education and local Further Education partners. Its aim is simple, to create an inclusive learning environment of national significance as a cornerstone of the broader development in the Thames Gateway, itself a national priority area.

"CEME  is a remarkable example of effective co-operation between business, academia and the community. We believe it will be a world first in proving the value of education as a catalyst for commercial regeneration. It offers a new approach in educational partnerships and provides a great opportunity to a wide range of local people and businesses."

Bob Blenkinsop, HR Manager of Ford Dagenham Engine Plant

"CEME is a major initiative for Ford Motor Company to put something momentous into the community. I believe we are helping create a pioneering centre which will be an extraordinary opportunity to develop the community and our people, and to gain first-class exposure to promote Ford's IT leadership and branding as an innovator and employer of choice."

Richard Thwaite, IT & eBusiness Infrastructure Director, Ford Motor Company

"CEME  is an outstanding example of how business and education can come together to improve the opportunities for the communities in which we work and live. I am so proud of Ford Motor Company and our technology partners for their involvement in this important initiative. We, at Ford, are committted to make this a showcase for Dagenham and the community at large on how we can help in improving the worklife of our people."
