Atelier-SM LtdAward-Winning Architectural Firm

atelier-sm
Atelier-SM Ltd is an award-winning architectural firm, currently working on projects throughout Essex, Kent and Hertfordshire. The company has over 20 years’ experience working in the commercial, industrial and private residential sectors.

challenge

Company founder, Steve Margett, set up Atelier-SM Ltd from a studio at the side of his home in Hornchurch. As the business grew, this environment became less ideal. He explains:

“I wanted to break into the commercial market, and knew I couldn’t project a professional image by holding meetings at my studio.”

solution

Steve rented a start-up office at CEME Innovation Centre and was immediately impressed by the professional image the centre gave his business. The on-site conferencing facilities were also very welcome, as they meant that meetings with clients and designers were run much more efficiently.

Steve says: “There was a lot of choice but CEME Innovation Centre won hands down. It was the only centre that didn’t tie you into a long lease which was very important for me at the time. Moving from a home office where you don’t have overheads, to renting a space is a very big jump, as there are no guarantees that you’ll be successful.

CEME Innovation Centre also worked for me in terms of location. I didn’t want to completely lose the flexibility I’d had working at home by having to commute into London.”
