Budding Spielberg wins charity promo video shoot
Twenty-four young digital talents embraced their creative side to shoot promotional videos for Havering Mind as part of CEME Launchpad Centre’s Young Entrepreneurs Programme. Students from Bower Park Academy in Romford took part in the project which was a joint venture between CEME, Havering Council and The Greater London Authority. The project was designed to empower 13-16 year olds, improve the digital skills of young people and close the digital gap in the UK workforce.
Three-minute marketing videos of the charity’s fundraising activities were created to highlight mental health issues and Havering Mind’s services. These films were judged by the expert judging panel, including representatives from Havering Mind, CEME, the Council and TV presenter, Rhys Stephenson.
The expert judging panel selected Angelina Musiwa and John Lagunzad’s film as the winner, which will now spearhead one of the charity’s marketing campaigns.
John Lagunzad,13, said: “This project gave you so much experience on how to use certain technology for filming and we learned a lot like directing, producing and all the jobs they do, and we used that to share the message that you are not alone.”

In June 2017, The Duke of York visited the all-new CEME Launchpad Centre to meet with prospective Entrepreneurs for Pitch@Palace 8.0 competition.
The competition gave start-ups and early stage businesses in Havering the chance to hone their presentation skills in front of HRH The Duke of York and a team of experts. Guidance was provided on what the businesses needed to do in order to improve to progress to later rounds and have the opportunity to pitch to investors at St. James’s Palace.
HRH The Duke of York said “There is no better way of getting the message of Pitch@Palace across to the next generation of Entrepreneurs than though our Alumni. Pitch@Palace is a community, and we want to see that community grow.”
The competition gave entrepreneurs an invaluable opportunity to hone their pitching skills in front of a member of the royal family and an alumni of investment experts.
